Flyleaf Creative is an award-winning multidisciplinary design firm that builds brands, digital strategy and large-scale environmental projects for mission-driven organizations in the fields of arts & culture, criminal justice reform, education, and freedom of expression. Clients include The Apollo Theater, Bard Prison Initiative, MCC Theater, Longwood Gardens, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, St. Ann’s Warehouse, and the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center.
The Role
Our core team of five is growing! We are currently seeking a Graphic Designer with a strong foundation in Visual Communication and User Experience Design. For this position you will be focusing on building and rolling out new branding systems through web, print, and digital media and supporting other team members on large-scale environmental design projects. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field
- At least 3–5 years of on-the-job experience in graphic design with creative agency
- Outstanding creative portfolio showcasing strong grasp of concept, typography, image-making, and technical skills and ability to solve complex design problems
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software
- Familiarity with UX design tools (Adobe XD/Sketch/Figma), and digital prototyping programs
- Basic HTML & CSS skills and familiarity with content editing and asset management in CMS platforms such as WordPress
- Knowledge of production preparation specific to print and digital media specifications
- Ability to take initiative and work independently or in collaboration with others
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work on multiple projects at once and complete projects in a timely manner
- Ability to bring attention to detail while seeing the big picture
- Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to articulate design decisions to support thematic concepts for design presentations
- Contribute to writing brand narrative and other written documentation, including client guideline documents
- Familiarity with tech reqs for newsletters and social media platforms including image/video quality constraints is preferred
- Light video editing skills is preferred
Responsibilities:
- Design and development of new branding systems and guidelines
- Concept development
- Develop client presentation decks
- Adhere to and develop to brand style guides
- Web & digital projects:
- Develop visual design concepts and systems
- Develop clickable or animated prototypes for design approval
- Develop production graphics and user interface elements to be integrated into development
- Create concept sketches in collaboration with design and web technology team
- Create wireframes and interactive prototypes
- Willingness to ideate on IA and content strategy
- Design and produce print and digital collateral
- Concept development, layout, and production
- Liaise with printers and other vendors
- Conduct research to aid the R&D strategy in earliest stages of design across all projects
- Design support for environmental graphics projects
- Visual research
- Creation of mockups
- Create, organize, document all phases of projects and deliver production-ready assets
- Communicate frequently with all team members to gain an understanding of client goals and scope of work
- Collaborate with the team to define requirements and optimal workflow
- Give and take internal feedback with a positive attitude, and accurately account for feedback in making revisions
- Work closely with account/client relations manager to set appropriate schedules to self-manage deadlines and to flag issues that may impact deadlines
- Present to clients, respond professionally and confidently to their feedback
- Meet high client expectations
- Report to VP of Client Relations and President

Salary
68K-80K
Salary is commensurate with experience. This is based on an individual’s experience working with a team and proven track record with prior agency/firm, type of projects designed, managed as well as complexity of projects, presentation experience, and seniority.
